Biggs was raised as a privileged child on Tatooine, son of a wealthy moisture farmer. As a teenager he spent time in the town of Anchorhead, where he met Luke. There friendship was a competitive one. They often races T-16 skyhoppers through Beggar's Canyon, shooting womp rats. Luke had a good shot in his older model, but Biggs was a better pilot, in his new model.
Biggs and Luke wanted to enter the Imperial Space Academy together. Biggs's father arranged for Biggs to enter the academy, but Luke's uncle, Owen Lars wanted to keep Luke behind for "another season". While in the Academy, Biggs and several other classmates made contact with the Rebellion while on a trip to the planet Bestine. The group made plans to join the rebels in fighting the Empire after they graduated.
A week after Biggs joined the Rebels, he made his final trip to Tatooine, where he met up with Luke in Tosche power station. In private Biggs told Luke he had joined the Rebellion, and the next day he left Tatooine. A few weeks later Biggs and his executive officer, Derek "Hobbie" Kilivian, staged a mutiny aboard the Rand Ecliptic and they stole it.
Biggs Darklighter was a great help to the Rebellion, piloting an X-Wing in several space battles. He was reunited on the Fourth Moon of Yavin before the Death Star attack. Biggs was killed when Vader, in his Special Tie Fighter, destroyed Biggs's ship. Today, Biggs ins remembered by Luke, who gave all to the cause in which he believed.
